Trees Plantation techniques taught at SPIS

Today we all gathered in one of our school ground where we were taught how to plant trees with proper techniques by one environment / landscape specialist.

We were showed how to dug a hole in a ground. The specialist explained us first to put a layer of healthy fertile soil, then black soil layer, then some insecticides and finally showed us how to plant the bamboo plant in the hole.

We have to plant the trees next week and hopefully we will complete the task successfully using all the techniques taught us today.

Short Film Making preparations begins

This week SPIS is again back with another exiting activity. This time we the students were given the task of making a short film making. We are divided into three groups: IBDP year 1 grade 11 A, IBDP year 1 grade 11 B, and IBDP year 2. Each group has to make one short film on any topic individually, from acting to editing, from composing lyrics to videography and from script writing to even directing, by own.

Regarding the task mentioned above yesterday we the students of IBDP year 1 and 2 gathered together so as to begin the preparations for Short Film Making. The session was addressed by Mr. Amit Rastogi, IBDP coordinator whereas Mr. Darshan Naik, CAS coordinator showed some award winning short films.

In this session we were shown Short Films like ek akash, a documentary film on World War and some Animation films. We were told the concepts hidden behind each film and the way how it is directed.

The aim of the session is to make us familiar with the techniques used in short film making and to much extent we acquired a lot of tips and ideas.

My group (grade 11 A) has decided to make a Documentary film on SPIS. We are going to attempt the task next week, so just hope for the best.

Trees plantation at SPIS (Van Mahotsava)

We the students of IBDP year 1 celebrated Van Mahotsava at our school (Sharad Pawar International School) on 4th and 5th August, 2010 by levelling and cleaning the ground surface for planting trees and making out campus greener and more beautiful. The major objectives behind this (tree plantation) was to keep our environment healthy and reduce pollution so as to extend the life of our earth.

We did this task under the guidance of  Mr. Amit Rastogi, our IBDP coordinator, Mr. Darshan Naik,  our CAS coordinator, and one environmental specialist. We all fully enjoyed the task and successfully completed it.

This activity comes under the Action as well as Service section of CAS, which is an important part of IB Diploma Programme.
